Rules... Portland West Wednesday Ladies’ 9-Hole League
Rules & Information for 2010
HANDICAP
Each member will enter their gross score on the score sheets, available on the table in the club house. The new computer program will generate each member’s handicap. It is this handicap that is to be used when totaling your score on the weekly sheets. New members must post five rounds of golf at Portland West before a handicap will be generated. The Handicap Index® is updated according to a revision schedule set by the regional golf association. Handicaps should be updated by the following week of league play.
RAIN DAYS- If it is rainy check into our site and see if we are playing. If you have no computer
Call Gerry D’Amora
If league play has already begun and it starts to rain, if all members leave the course no
Prizes will be awarded. However, should those golfers who wish to continue in the rain,
there must be at least 12 members that complete the round to be a weekly tournament.
There will be winners in both flights each week for Low Gross and Low Net. Count putts only when noted on the schedule. Additional prizes are awarded for special tournaments. Prizes are awarded in Pro shop credit only and may be redeemed for merchandise during the season. A running total of each player’s credit is maintained in the Pro shop.
SCORING- When the scores are being updated weekly, it has been voted on that we will
Compare ties by comparing holes. If play number one gets less than play 3 or 4, we
will go to the first lowest hole, then the 2nd lowest, and 3rd lowest, etc
MISCELLANEOUS INFO & REMINDERS
Check in at the Pro Shop at least 15 to 20 minutes before your tee time.
We play friendly golf by Summer rules.
Two score cards should be kept for a foursome. At the end of the round, compare scores for accuracy. This information should then be recorded on the weekly score sheets in the clubhouse. Please leave one score card on the table to verify information. If a score card is not left, the foursome will be eliminated as eligible weekly winners. USE LAST NAMES ON SCORE CARDS ONLY!!
No Mulligans allowed and Whiffs count as a stroke.
No player should play until those in front are out of range.
Don’t give lessons on the golf course.
Carry two spare balls in case you need to hit a provisional.
Play ready golf - Let the first player ready hit first regardless of the scores on the previous hole.
To keep play moving, walk quickly to your ball and be ready to hit when it is your turn. Slow play is not courteous play. One player can line up her shot while another is addressing her shot.
Be courteous to others while they are teeing off, playing on the fairway or putting. Avoid unnecessary talking, swinging or other forms of distraction.
Divots should be carefully replaced and pressed down.
The maximum score on Par 3 holes is 8. Pick up your ball after 8 strokes and record your score for that hole as 8. Include all “whiffs,” as whiffs are strokes.
The maximum score on Par 4 holes is 10. Pick up your ball after 10 strokes and record your score for that hole as 10. Remember to include all “whiffs.”
